Krystel and John wanted to celebrate their Filipino culture throughout their wedding day festivities at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, while also honoring Hawaiian culture. Keep reading to see the unique details they incorporated throughout their ceremony and reception that helped them honor their background on their special day.
After meeting on a college dance team, Krystal and John vacationed at different Disney destinations before John proposed at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, which made it the ideal spot to host their wedding. The couple said, “We always wanted a destination wedding, after the proposal and having a fantastic stay at Aulani, we just had to do a Disney Wedding and bring our family and friends back to where it started.”
On the morning of their wedding, Krystel got ready in the Lei Hulu suite before sharing a romantic first look with John. Afterwards, the couple walked over to their ceremony on the private beach front of Lanikuhonua.
Krystel shared that, "It was important for us to have a custom Disney wedding embracing our Filipino culture and honoring the beautiful Hawaii island.” With this, the couple included tropical details into their decor. Surrounded by lush green grass and bending trees, white chairs lined the grounds. A tall wooden arch decorated with large palms, delicate orchids, and vibrant pink blooms awaited the soon-to-be Mr. And Mrs.
A harpist welcomed John and Krystel’s arrivals. John walked down the aisle to "The Avengers Theme" and Krystal walked down the aisle to “Kiss The Girl” from The Little Mermaid. During the ceremony, Krystel & John exchanged personal vows, and John added some extra magic into his by incorporating Disney songs. The two partook in a sand ceremony and then walked along the beach to take gorgeous photos along the rocky shores.

Krystel and John had their reception at Kaiona Ballroom, named after a local mountain goddess who helps the lost find their way home by sending birds to guide them through the forest. The tables and overhead glass light fixture featured the same bright pink as their ceremony and statement Hawaiian themes were featured throughout the space's decor.

The matching florals were also featured on the couple’s cake which was detailed with golden Mickey Mouse patterns throughout it. Custom Disney flavors of Dole Whip and “the Grey Stuff” were the two flavors the couple chose to delight their guests with. Additionally, Krystel and John had been “ecstatic when we found out our favorite Disneyland [Resort] snack, churros, could be served.” They surprised their guests with a churro and ice cream sundae bar that night.

One of the best parts about Krystel and John choosing Kaiona Ballroom for their reception was that it features a spacious dance floor which was perfect for the newlyweds. They stated, “As a dance couple, we wanted to entertain our guests with performances that represented us. The couple and many of their friends and family performed dances throughout the night as they celebrated their love.

We could not be happier for Krystel and John and wish them all the best!
