TIPS FOR ADVENTURE HONEYMOONS

BEFORE YOUR TRIP
Safeguard your honeymoon with some upfront planning to help your vacation go as smoothly as possible.
  • Lock down your reservations well ahead of time—you can book your Disney vacation more than a year in advance.
  • Don't short-change your vacation. Consider 8 to 10 nights—or longer—so you can completely unwind. It's your special time!
  • Better safe than sorry—have someone check up on your home while you two are gone.
  • Arrange care for your pets well ahead of time, complete with instructions, to minimize your stress. Don't leave it to the last-minute!
  • Check your airline's luggage weight restrictions and per bag limits before you pack. Then weigh your packed bags—and repack if you need to.
  • Make sure your carry-on baggage fits within the TSA's size guidelines.
  • When changing time zones, resist napping once you land—it'll throw off your internal clock. Jump right into your day, staying up until bedtime in your new time zone.
  • Purchase travel insurance for your trip. It'll ensure peace of mind or assistance, should you need it. Ask your travel agent for details.

GENERAL TRAVEL
Observe some common sense advice on travel preparation and packing to get your honeymoon off to a good start.
  • Check the weather and pack accordingly for the season, climate and temperatures you'll encounter.
  • Drink lots of water and avoid caffeinated beverages to help beat jet lag.
  • Carry on your wedding gifts list and write your thank-you notes on the plane ride.
  • Use antibacterial wipes to clean remotes, light controls and seat-back tray tables as soon as you get on the plane.
  • Wear noise-canceling headphones on long flights to fight fatigue. They can do double duty for watching movies too.
  • Wear sunblock, a hat and sunglasses when traveling to sunny climates. You'll be out all day, so don't let a sunburn ruin your trip.
  • Dress in comfortable shoes when you know you'll be doing a lot of walking.
  • Bring an umbrella or rain poncho, so you're always prepared for inclement weather.
  • Pack smart by including essentials and some conveniences, but do not over-pack, so you can travel lighter—and leave room for souvenirs!
